Therapeutic Yoga

Yoga is an ancient recognised method of exercises to health and wellbeing. The word 'yoga' means 'union'. It has been practised for centuries. Practising yoga can have beneficial effects. Some of them are,

  • Reduces longstanding pain
  • Helps in preparation of body and mind
  • Helps in slowing down the ageing process
  • Helps to recover from injuries.
  • Yoga is a popular form of exercise which helps treating back pain, arthritis, stress and long term conditions. The effect of yoga is supported by the growing availability of evidence.

Yoga helps to control "stress hormone" in our body (known as cortisol). Cortisol is known to suppress our immune system. Too much of cortisol in our body is linked to developing longstanding diseases. During periods of poor sleep patterns and stress this hormone can become irregular. In return, this affects our ability to relax and control our body reaction to inflammation and infection. Therapeutic yoga can be tailored to treat physical and emotional problems.

At Relive Physiotherapy, we are skilled in adapting yoga techniques to suit the individual needs.
