Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is inevitably a lifelong condition often presents with an overlap of symptom clusters without any significant pathology. The most common symptom is multiple site longstanding pain. There are other significant symptoms such as fatigue (tiredness), stiffness, non-restorative sleep, difficulty concentrating ("fibro fog"), muscle weakness, restless legs, tingling and numbness in hands and feet, headache, low mood, anxiety, cold intolerance and irritable bowel syndrome. It is more common in women.

The exact cause of Fibromyalgia still remains a mystery. There is no specific laboratory test to diagnose Fibromyalgia. It is believed that the cause of Fibromyalgia is due to an abnormal activity of central pain system. It is most commonly seen in people with inflammatory arthritis (such as rheumatoid arthritis and Lupus).
